The Hundred Languages of Childhood

Shadows and Light

Everything has a shadow and children are fascinated by this concept. The use of mirrors and shadow making equipment, such as light tables, screens flashlights, and overhead projectors, allows the children to watch their own images as they explore and play.

The teachers also use light to assist the children with their art and other venues of project work.

Bianca uses the overhead projector to trace the butterfly that she saw in a book. Once that was done she transferred her drawing to a canvas.

How many venues can we find to see ourselves? Drums filled with water present children with the opportunity to see their own reflections.
